Hey you hot diggity dawg!
I am so so soooooo excited to present the stunning cover for my next novel Well, Actually.
Look at it!!! LOOK. AT. IT.
The incredible Jenifer Prince has yet again blown me away with her talent. I love how she captured so many perfect details—Eva’s f*ck me heels, Rylie’s purple sweater as a nod to both of them being bi, his slutty little glasses, her devastating scowl, his smirk of challenge… UGH PERFECTION!!!
This book is one of my favorites. I know we aren’t supposed to have favorites but it’s true. It was so fun. Eva is SO hot and SO mean and Rylie is just like 😩😮💨🥰 every time she verbally eviscerates him.
Here are some fun things you’ll find inside the book:
🚩Ex-situationship
😩“Stop being so mean to me or I’m gonna fall in love with you"
😳Social media call-out goes viral
🐈⬛Black cat x golden retriever
🖕She HATES him, he’s OBSESSED with her
💜Second chance
🫦Hero on his knees to grovel and… do other things
😮💨Lots of praise
Back cover blurb: “Eva Kitt never expected to be the host of Sausage Talk, interviewing B-list celebrities over lukewarm hot dogs, instead of pursuing the journalism career she dreamed of. But when Eva’s impromptu public call out of her college ex goes viral, she’s thrust into the spotlight. It doesn’t help said ex is Rylie Cooper, a beloved social media personality that has built a platform on deconstructing toxic masculinity and teaching men how to be good partners.
Forced to confront Rylie on a live episode of Sausage Talk, he offers Eva a deal: allow him to take her on a series of dates to make up for his toxic behavior, then debrief them on his channel to show he’s changed. Eva refuses to play nice, but agrees to the scheme to advance her own career and continue defaming Rylie’s good name. When these manufactured dates start to feel real, Eva has to wonder if the boy that broke her heart has become the man that might heal it.”
I realized after I turned this book in that the energy is essentially if Kyle Prue (things to say to piss off men) and Amelia Dimoldenberg (chicken shop date) had an extremely messy ex-situationship during college then begrudgingly go on second chance redemption tour online six years later to save their careers.
Well, Actually releases August 5, 2025 but you can pre-order NOW wherever books are sold. If you want signed copies you can get them at my local indie bookstore Malaprop’s, just write in the check out notes any personalization you’d like! P.S. this one is also coming out in hardcover!! Now I’m just manifesting a special sprayed edges edition with little hot dogs along the sides.
Upcoming Events
Sharpen your pencils, get your color-coded school supplies, and mark your calendars for October 9th because I’m participating in Wake Forest’s amazing Write Here, Write Now program and will be giving a talk about dialogue! As someone that is inarticulate 95% of the time, this will certainly be an interesting hour for all of us!!! In all seriousness, I’m so excited for this and to dive in to the fun messiness of character dialogue and highlighting a character’s voice! This program is free, open to everyone, and has six (6!!!) parts of amazing advice from so many wonderful NC authors.
Recommend me a book or movie
I am so ready for spooky season and am desperate for all the creepy, atmospheric gothic book and movie recommendations. I am forever chasing the high of Mexican Gothic so if you have anything in the same vein, let me know in the comments!
Where to Buy
Signed copies of my books are available, as always, at Malaprops.
Late Bloomer is available wherever books are sold, and it would mean so much to me if you would pick up a copy or grab from your library! You’d also be doing me a massive solid if you’d take a moment to review LB on various retail sites (I promise not to read!) Barnes & Noble | Amazon | Kobo | Apple | Walmart | Target | Goodreads |

All my love,
Mazey ❤️🧠🦷
Love the cover! Also, I don’t know if if Carmilla is similar to Mexican Gothic (never read the book) or if you even read Carmilla, but something tells me that you might like it.
isabel canas for similar-to-mexican-gothic vibes!!!
